BODY – VOICE – ENSEMBLE (Minneapolis)

a two-day laboratory theatre workshop

Body – Voice – Ensemble is a chance for professional performers, artists, and students to immerse themselves in Company of Wolves’ unique body-centred approach to performance.

Based on our work in Polish laboratory theatre (Song of the Goat, Gardzienice), contemporary improvisation, and voice, our training uses movement, song and text to:

  • search for ways to be more fully awake and alive in the moment of performance, and for ways to give ourselves fully to our work, our partners and the audience; and
  • awaken the impulses and imagination of the body, and explore how to give these expression in voice, movement and speech.

This workshop offers an introduction to our physical, vocal and energetic training, offering a chance to rediscover performance as a living practice, and to reconnect to our sources of inspiration, at the turn of the year.

Company of Wolves is a laboratory theatre company based in Scotland, led by Ewan Downie and Anna Porubcansky. We make performance by experiment, using elements of theatre, dance, music and improvisation to craft unique and compelling pieces that speak directly to the times in which we live. We lead regular workshops across the UK and Europe for professional performers, students, and anyone interested in embodied creativity. This is our first workshop in the US.

Recent performances include Achilles, The End of Things, and A Brief History of Evil. For more information about us, visit our website at
